Wang Zhanyang

Wang Zhanyang, born in 1966, is currently serving as the deputy director of Shaolin Temple Wushu Training Center, the principal of Shaolin Jingwu School, ranking the 7th Duan of Chinese Wushu amd, the 9th Duan of Shaolin Wushu. He learned Wushu with his father (Wang Chaofan) since his childhood. He is expert at the skills of boxing, broadsword and cudgel, and is known as “the first broadsword of Shaolin”. In 1972, he won the first prize for children in Henan Province Wushu Competition in 1988, he won the superior prize in the Songhe Cup National Wushu Invitational Competition in 1994, he won the peace prize at European International Wushu Festival in Italy in 2003, at the first Shaolin Wushu Competition in Henan Province, he won the first prize in boxing, broadsword and cudgel items; in 2004, at the first World Shaolin Wushu Festival, he won the first prize in boxing, broadsword items; in 2011, at the national Wushu Shaolin Boxing Competition, he won the first prize in boxing and broadsword; in 2017, he won the first prize in boxing and broadsword at the National Wushu Township Competition in Cangzhou, Hebei province; in January 2020, he was awarded the title of Chinese martial artist by the Chinese Martial Artists Association. As a troupe leader, he has traveled more than 50 countries and regions such as Europe, America, Southeast Asia and Russia for teaching performances.
